Center for Family Involvement Events

 Opportunity for Parents and Caregivers: Family Engagement Virtual Workgroup: ATTENTION PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS!

The National Resource Center for Patient/Family- Centered Medical Home (NRC-PFCMH) is bringing together parents and caregivers to discuss how pediatricians and families can work together to make sure families’ needs are being met.
Are you a parent/caregiver of a child with disabilities?
Are you passionate about sharing your knowledge?
Are you able to meet for about 2 hours between March - June?
We want to hear from you! You will receive a generous stipend for your time.
The sign up is now open. The NRC-PFCMH is accepting interested candidates through March 12. For questions, please contact Beth Mlodoch , Program Manager of Medical Home Initiatives.
This parent/caregiver-led work group will provide feedback and expert opinion on 2 resources related to social determinants of health:

● Article describing the benefits of social determinants of health screening for www.healthychildren.org

● One-page resource for pediatricians to collaborate with families on social determinants of health screening and appropriate referrals for services

The Center for Family Involvement is hosting a webinar on Supported Decision Making presented by guardianship guru Jonathan Martinis. The second is our series, “Introduction to Supported Decision Making in Special Education,” will occur on Thursday, April 1st at 4:00 pm EST.

In this session, we will discuss ways to use Supported Decision-Making to ensure that people with disabilities receive appropriate and effective supports in Special Education. We’ll give you practical, research-based strategies to help people receive Individualized Education Programs and Transition Services that will empower them to lead their best lives.
